Date Teaching Given: March 4-8, 2024
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
Introduction
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue...” Prov. 18:21 (NKJV)
“You are snared by the words of your mouth...” Prov. 6:2 (NKJV)
“For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matt. 12:37 (NKJV)
Many of Almighty God’s children have not known the authority God has given them nor the power of their words.
The enemy has deceived the world into believing words don’t really matter and are only used for communication.
Words were used to form this world.
Words are creative.
They are power.
They are life.
And they can even be death.
You will have what you speak. You have a choice to speak either life and blessing or death and cursing.
You can say things to change the situations in your own life and around the world by speaking the right words.
If you need healing, say that Jesus is your healer. He is Jehovah Rapha.
God has given you great revelation within the Bible—you see the outcomes for the people in the Bible who said what God needed them to say.
Earnestly remember, meditate, and reflect on the things God has done and said.
God is your Deliverer, Healer, Victory, Provider.
Speak God’s Names over your life and the situations you are in.
God’s character is reflected in His Names:
Alpha and Omega – Beginning and End
Elohim—The Creator
El Elyon – The Most High God
El Shaddai—The God with Whom Nothing is Impossible
Immanuel – God is with us
Jehovah Jireh – The Lord your Provider
Jehovah Nissi – The Lord your Banner of Victory
Jehovah Rapha – The Lord your Healer
Genesis 1
The first thing you see in Genesis is how God created the Heavens and Earth with the power of His Words.
Understanding this foundation is important because you live in a word-created world.
The enemy wants you to speak his words to create fear, death, destruction, sickness, and disease.
God gave you His Word as an example for how you are supposed to speak in this dark world.
When situations look impossible and like there is no way out, remember that God is your way out.
Your way out is by getting into the Bible and finding out what God has to say about it.
Your way out is through speaking God’s Word – life and blessing, love, peace and joy – over every test, trial, circumstance, and situation.
Throughout Genesis Chapter 1, there are several verses that say, “Then God said...” (Gen. 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 26).
God created the Earth and everything in it by speaking. He created the world with His Words.
God also made man with His Words. He then gave Adam and Eve the blessing and empowerment to create by speaking His Words, too.
God said, “Let Us, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, make man in our image and likeness.”
He created you in His image and likeness, with the same right and authority to create by the words you speak.
Genesis 1:26-28
Adam was given complete authority and dominion to rule over everything on Earth.
As a child of God, you have the same authority and dominion over everything.
God did not create you to be a slave, to be under oppressors, nor to be under rogue & tyrannical governments.
Children of God are supposed to rule and reign on Earth.
How does a king or president rule? How does a king or president command? With words. How do you change laws? With words.
Every situation in your life can be changed with the words you speak.
John 6:63
God’s Written Word can change your life forever.
God’s Words are spirit and life.
God’s Words have power and authority.
In Genesis 1:2, you see that the world was without form, and void.
There was nothing before God created the world with His Words.
You change your circumstances with the words you choose to speak.
When things go wrong in someone’s life, they may ask, “Where is God?”
You can’t speak one way in prayer but then say things contrary to your prayers and God’s Word in daily life.
Speaking out of both sides of your mouth, saying contradictory things causes your prayers to be null and void.
And the thing you speak more of is what takes root and yields a harvest.
God has given you right words, His Words, to speak over all things to bring forth a harvest of good fruit: safety, health, life, joy, peace, and blessings.
God’s Words are health and healing to your flesh. (Prov. 4:20-23)
Words can change your circumstances.
Words bring life. Words bring healing. Words bring peace. Words bring joy. Words bring faith. Words bring prosperity. Words bring victory.
God’s Words are designed to create, give life, and give blessings.
The enemy has greatly deceived the world and the Body of Christ into believing that words don’t matter and that they have no power.
Religion and legalism will tell you that words don’t mean anything.
The enemy has used the media, entertainment industry, and governments to dull your senses and make you unaware of the power of words.
And if you only speak the words of the adversary—defeat, destruction, death, fear, lack, sickness, weakness, calamity, confusion, and chaos—then that is what you will get.
People say what is contrary to the Word of God. Examples of this:
“My back is killing me.”
“My kids are driving me up a wall.”
“Poor so-and-so."
“I have cancer.”
“My marriage is falling apart.”
“I’m broke.”
“I’m sick and tired.”
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.”
Words can hurt, and they can do damage.
The curse doesn’t come causeless. (Prov. 26:2)
You have more power and authority over everything you see than you realize.
Ask God for the revelation that death and life are in the power of the tongue. (Prov. 18:21)
You will have what you say - whether you speak life and blessing or death and cursing.
God needs you to stand on His Word, speak His Word, declare and decree His Word, and then it will be established. (Job 22:28)
Get into agreement with God, and He will do what He says in His Word because He is faithful to perform His Word. (Jer. 1:12)
As a child of the Most High God, you are in the Army of the Lord, and you have a Commander in Chief Who has giving you instructions and marching orders to say what He needs you to say and to be in agreement with Him that the things in your life can change by what you believe and say.
When you pray and speak the Word of God, you can be confident that His Word does not return to Him void (Isa. 55:11) and that He will perform His Word.
When you pray, know that God does hear you. (Prov. 15:29; 1 Peter 3:12; 1 John 5:15)
Isaiah 55:11
Know how to use the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. (Eph. 6:17) It is the greatest weapon in the world.
Some people in the Body of Christ don’t know how to pray. They say everything that’s wrong in their life, and then they wonder why their prayers aren’t answered.
So, pray the answer- the Word of God. Don’t pray or speak about the problem.
God wants you to know the power of His Word, and He wants you to speak what He says.
Job 1:9-12
God wouldn’t take the hedge of protection off Job.
Satan couldn’t take the hedge of protection down.
The only person who had the power to take down the hedge of protection was Job.
Job’s fear was the reason that the hedge of protection was taken off him.
When Job was in fear, he was speaking all the wrong things.
He got into fear, believed that fear, and spoke wrong things. His words took down the hedge of protection.
Job 6:23-25
Through all these things that were going wrong in Job’s life, he got a revelation:
He realized it wasn’t God’s fault for his current circumstances.
He realized how forceful and powerful right words are.
Understanding the power of words, Job asked God to teach him to hold his tongue.
Why would God give examples in the Bible of holding your tongue (to prevent you from saying the wrong thing) if words didn’t have power?
Ask God to teach you to hold your tongue, to show you how forceful are right words, and to get you into alignment with His Word.
Proverbs 6:2
Snared definition: To catch or to trap (someone); to capture; to come to possess or control by or as if by seizing.
The adversary can seize you, trap you, and control you with your words.
Proverbs 18:20-21
Words bring death or life.
If you are speaking sickness and death, that is what you’ll get.
If you are speaking life, blessing, and healing, that is what you’ll get.
Speak the right words over everything in your life.
Psalm 19:14
As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is. (Prov. 23:7)
Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. (Matt. 12:34; Luke 6:45)
God is telling you that your thoughts are also important, for from your thoughts you speak.
Psalm 34:13
Line your words up with God’s Word.
Psalm 141:3
David asked God to keep his mouth shut and help him to say only right words.
It’s important to know the power of the Word of God and to be in agreement with the Word of God.
Proverbs 10:19
Stop running your mouth. Speak only God’s Word.
Be sensible and watch what you say.
If you talk too much, you can say the wrong thing.
Repent and ask the Lord for forgiveness for anything you have said knowingly or unknowingly that is contrary to His Word.
Proverbs 10:31
As part of the Body of Christ, you need to speak sensibly and watch what you say.
Proverbs 12:14
Speak the right words.
Speak not what you see or have but speak what you want or desire.
Satan is using your negative words to keep you enslaved.
God’s Word is truth, and God’s Word will set you free. (John 8:32)
God is faithful to perform His Word. (Heb. 10:23)
Proverbs 12:18
Wreckless words can cause damage and pierce like a sword.
Ask for a crop failure on the wrong/negative words you have spoken.
When you’re under pressure, if God hasn’t given you the words to say, you’re better off not saying anything right away.
Sometimes silence is the best thing you can do and the best course of action.
The first words you speak in a life-or-death situation are the most important.
Ask God what words He wants you to say in that situation.
Your words need to be aligned with God’s Word.
2 Kings 4:17-37
You need to have a firm, focused foundation on the Father.
The Shunammite woman never said that her son had died. She never spoke a negative word. She spoke in faith. She spoke life.
If the Shunammite woman had professed that her son was dead, he would have stayed dead.
But the Shunammite woman didn’t give Satan permission with her words.
The Shunammite woman got what she said (it is well) instead of professing and claiming what it looked like in the natural.
Satan will give you opportunities to say the wrong thing so that he can entrap you.
First words matter.
God is training you to speak the right way.
You need to say the right words in your daily life to receive what you are asking for in prayer.
When you don’t know how to pray, pray in tongues (in the Spirit).
Mark 5:25-35
The woman with the issue of blood was building up her faith and confidence by the words she spoke. She spoke in faith. She spoke life.
She had an atmosphere of expectancy within her.
It wasn’t the garment that had power and anointing; it was her faith that healed her. She believed that Jesus had the power to heal.
She didn't let the threat of her death (from being in a crowd of people with her ailment) stop her.
Her words changed her outcome.
Speak! Claim your healing, freedom, and victory. Say, "I am healed." “I am free.” “I am victorious.”
You need to get God’s Word down in your heart.
Your heart is like soil. You're sowing seeds into the soil of your heart. Plant the seed of the Word of God. When you do, the seeds will grow and produce a good and bountiful harvest.
Your faith, belief, trust, and confidence in God are what get you healed.
Mark 5:22-23, 35-36, 38-39, 41-42
Jairus' words of faith (the right words) to Jesus brought his daughter's healing. He spoke in faith. He spoke life.
Satan immediately tried to bring fear, pressure, and a bad report to Jairus that his daughter had indeed died, a report that was opposite/contrary to the Word of God.
Jesus told Jairus not to fear and to keep on believing despite this report.
Jairus needed to keep his mouth shut so he wouldn’t say the wrong thing.
Cut off the report of the enemy when it’s contrary to the Word of God.
You cut it off by not accepting an evil report, not claiming an evil report, and not agreeing with an evil report by refusing to say the wrong things.
Instead speak God’s Word.
You have a choice in every situation to speak words of life and blessing, or death and cursing.
Proverbs 13:3
You need to be sensible and careful about what you say.
Your first words in every situation are so important.
Proverbs 15:1-2, 28
Speak wisely. True wisdom and wise words are from God.
You need to know how to respond, how to speak to a problem. Don’t respond with negative and fearful words.
An evil word is one that is contrary to God and His Word. If a word or report is contrary to God, it is a lie.
Numbers 13:30-33
There are two voices in the world: God’s and the enemy’s.
There are two reports: God’s and the enemy’s.
God’s good report brings truth, freedom, and victory. (Rom. 8:31-39)
The enemy’s evil report brings deception and destruction.
No thing, person, or situation is bigger than God.
Numbers 14:1-4
Don't believe the bad/evil reports. Start believing God’s report and God’s Word – the good report.
If you complain in a situation, you will remain in that situation.
Psalm 78:41 says the Israelites limited the Holy One of Israel by murmuring, groaning, and complaining.
You give Satan authority in your life when you speak negative things.
Don’t speak your defeat.
Don’t limit God by what you say.
If you declare a thing, it shall be established. (Job. 22:28)
What you speak and declare is what you will get – good or bad.
Agree with God so that He can keep working in your life.
God is faithful to perform His Word. (Heb. 10:23)
Daniel 10:12
God hears your prayers and your words.
God sent the angel Gabriel to Daniel because of Daniel’s words.
Gabriel confirmed to Daniel “from the first day, your words were heard”.
James 3:1-10
Your tongue determines your course. If you’re not careful with what you say, your tongue (your words) can get you off God’s course for your life, get you in trouble, and bring destruction.
You should not be speaking both blessing and cursing. You should only be speaking blessings.
It is God and His power, His might, and His Authority that helps you guard your mouth and gives you the right words to speak.
1 Samuel 17:37, 45-46
It was David’s words that set the course for Goliath’s destruction.
David had ample opportunity to give up, quit, run away, cower, and hide like everyone else. Instead, he chose to speak the right words, to believe that God was on his side, and believe that God was bigger than anything he saw. He said what God needed him to say, which set him on the right course.
The enemy will always pressure you in an impossible-looking situation to get you to say the wrong thing.
I set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, you choose. (Deut. 30:19)
Choose which report you believe and say what God needs you to say.
